The Chateau in French means “Castle” and that’s exactly what this cafe’s vibe embodies. It formally has two locations. One in Chantilly, Virginia and the other just opened in June 2025, in Rockville, MD. I can’t speak for the Chantilly location, but the Rockville location, while small- has a quaint atmosphere. It reminds me of a cute french bakery paired with those posh homes you’ll see on TV with the marble countertops and all white kitchen appliances/cabinets. The place is not all white, actually- so perhaps take that with a grain of salt- but rather it “feels” up-scale, posh and elegant.

That is… if you don’t look up. I think the one thing about this location is that when we went, the pipes, lights and metal ceiling bars were still in full view. Yet, upon looking at the Chantilly location, it was the same. So perhaps they are trying to mix upscale class with a warehouse feel? Unsure!

Anywhoo! As you enter the cafe, there is a large display of sweets and desserts. It reminds me a little of Paris Baguette or Tous Les Jours.

The tables are along the sides and there is wifi which is nice for students or professionals. I will sometimes go to cafes to get work done and find it to be 50/50 productive. Sometimes, it’s helpful to get out of the house- although other times I find it hard to get work done.

It may be a little tricky to see from this photo, but the logo is painted on the brick wall, which I thought was cool from a customer’s perspective- and also it’s incredibly hard to paint horses and intricate lines/details on brick, so kudos to them!

The cafe itself is LONG. Like physically, long. After you get past the baked goods- you can order drinks at the register… or cakes or other sweeter sweets… Some of the cakes we saw really were quite detail-orientated and elegant! If I had an occasion, I would have definitely bought one- but we went here after stuffing our faces at Uzu Revolving Sushi (all you can eat) just a few stores down, so buying a cake was out of the question!

The drink menu was pretty expansive, offering more than just coffee or lattes (which are also great). I got a Lavender Lemonade (under the refreshers section) and thought it was really good!

It was definitely refreshing- tasty and it tasted exactly what I would have imagined “lavender lemonade” to taste like. My friends had both gotten the dragon fruit ade- also under the refreshers and they said it was good, but didn’t really taste like dragon fruit- and although I’ve had dragonfruit before, I couldn’t really tell you what I would have expected from a dragon fruit ade…

There you can probably see that fancy/upscale/posh element I was talking about on that marble table. There are purple lavender (Leaves? Bits?) sprinkled in my drink at the top, it may be difficult to see if you’re not looking for them, though.

Do I recommend The Chateau De Rockville?

I do. I thought it was a cute place and would be nice to go there if I needed to get some work done. It’s almost like an alternative to Starbucks but with CAKES and BAKED GOODS and a lot more food selection. The drink was good- I can’t speak on the food but it looked beyond delicious! I usually bake cakes for my friends’ birthday, but if ever in a pinch- I’ll know where to go! Like Uzu, though- know that parking can be tricky and if there aren’t spots up front, you may have better luck in the back, which if only popping in to get a cake or something, can be a hassle… Now that I know this is a place to go though, I am excited to check out the location in Chantilly- as I’ve heard it’s bigger. Which in Rockville’s defense, it had only been open 2 months or so when we visited. Overall, yes I think it’s a lovely cafe and a great place to get a drink, food, dessert, or anything in between!
