There were two places that once I told people I was going to Lviv (or once I arrived) I was recommended the most. The first was Lviv Handmade Chocolate Factory/Store and the second was Kriyva. Today, we’ll be talking about the Lviv Handmade Chocolate!

There are several locations of Lviv Handmade Chocolate in the area, and honestly- it doesn’t matter where you go! They’re all pretty much the same. Lviv Handmade Chocolate isn’t just a chocolate store to sell sweets, but they also have chocolatier workshops. In these workshops, you may learn how to temper chocolate, pour figurines, shape candies or decorate them.

The store itself is mainly for walk-ins, but they do also have a few places to sit if you would like. For us, we were on our way to dinner so it very much was a quick stop and go for us.

Once you get inside, the walls and shelves are laden with wrapped chocolates, boxed delicacies and small chocolate candies. The front is where the magic is- with a display of carefully crafted treats, great for centerpieces or snacking. They also have cakes and anything chocolate that you can imagine! Lviv Handmade Chocolate is pretty famous and these aren’t factory-made items, these are handcrafted by Ukrainians, themselves.

Possibly the most mesmerizing is the pure variety of them all. (Or rather, the sweet overwhelm!) Many of these are also perfect for traveling and bringing home back to your folks (please put it in your suitcase, folks! I am not responsible for any sniffer dogs detecting your Lviv chocolates in your handbags!!!)

My friend bought four smaller chocolate bars and I had gotten a small chocolate box.

We left in a rush to get to the dinner on time, but we left happy and so grateful that we stopped by before we went on our way. Honestly, I thought I would have had more time in Ukraine than I actually did. They say time flies when you’re having fun- so maybe it’s that… but I really didn’t expect it to go by quickly!

Do I recommend Lviv Handmade Chocolate?

For your sanity, I do. For your health, maybe not so much! But honestly… the quality and health of these chocolates are probably better than your average grocery store chocolates, but I must admit, it is hard to get just one… and let’s be honest- 5 boxes of Lviv chocolates probably isn’t more healthy than 1 box of grocery chocolates…. moderation, peeps! All in moderation…
