I know there are cat cafes in America, but I actually have never been to one. Maybe it’s that they’re never close to where I am, but I’ve always loved the idea…

Growing up, I had three cats and now I have one cat and a dog, so safe to say that being an animal lover is part of my spirit! In Lviv they do have a cat cafe! We went in the morning before I headed over the opera house and the place was so cozy. All of the cats seem to be treated well, content and happy. There wasn’t any cat brawls or whining when we were there. I suppose the biggest thing to be aware of is that there really are limited options for vegetarians! I am not… but my friend was.

The Cats:

I can’t count how many cats there were, maybe 15- maybe more! There was also a downstairs (where the bathroom was) where they could roam down there if they wanted to. We came pretty much right at opening, and were allowed to feed the cats, which was great! We were given a bowl of kibble to feed them. I don’t know if this is an all-day thing, I would assume not only because if every customer that came in could feed the cats, I think they would all get quite chunky!

If you’re a cat person, or really an animal person, in general, you know they all have their personalities. My favorite was Bella… Bella has resting b*tch face but truly, she was the most cuddly and affectionate of them all!

You can see some of the other cats on the wall there, but I definitely saw cats that weren’t on the wall… and I assume they didn’t sneak in! Ha!

Food/Atmosphere:

They have mainly breakfast/lunch type of food and if you ask, they’ll give you an English menu. The server was very nice and service was relatively quick. The pizza was pretty big, actually and the coffee was lovely.

I believe there was free wi-fi here too, there was a lady that came in shortly after us and got set up with a laptop and a cat curled up on her lap shortly after.

The atmosphere was cozy but simple. There were things on the wall for the cats to climb, various cat trees around and photos of the cats hanging on the walls. Initially when you walk inside, there is a slight smell, but it’s not pungent and it fades pretty quickly. The place is clean, but you’re bound to smell something when there’s a cafe full of cats. Most of the cats won’t try and eat your food… except… except this sneaky one! When I was in the restroom downstairs, apparently he had a taste of my milkshake! Thankfully it was pretty much done when that happened!

Do I recommend Cat Cafe Lviv?

Well let’s start with this- would I come here again? I think yes, it’s a fun place to be and the animals are great. I think the only reason I’m wouldn’t say absolutely I’ll go tomorrow is because the food was nice, but nothing extravagant (which is not uncommon for a cafe like this). It’s more of a breakfast/brunch place (with cats!) and typically when I go out for breakfast, I’m going to the food-fancy places. The French crepes, the homemade croissants, the artisan bakeries. But…okay, they have cats though… 🥺

If I were to stay long term in Lviv and wanted somewhere fun to do my work and have a coffee here, I would absolutely come. If I was touring a fellow expat around the place, we would come. For a cat cafe, I would say 5/5 stars and I’ll leave it at that! And oh… if you look on Google Reviews, it has 7,922 Google Reviews at 4.3 stars… have I convinced you yet?!

One response to “The Best Cat Cafe : A Cozy Haven for Cat Lovers (Lviv, Ukraine)”

  1. […] It had a bit of a European coastal vibe of sorts and they are definitely cat lovers as there are multiple cat-inspired drinks here! Unfortunately no actual cats that I saw, but if you wanted to visit a cat cafe in Lviv, be sure to check out my other post here. […]
